Cost Containment
As a partner in the provision of your inmate healthcare ACH will assist in reducing and controlling costs regardless of financial responsibility.
The ACH program will assist in managing your medical budget by:
Risk Management
The goal of ACH is to assist each client in identifying and reducing the risk and liability associated with the provision of healthcare services to the detainee population. Our Risk Management program includes the following:
Civil Rights Insurance Coverage: ACH has secured Civil Rights Insurance coverage that provides an added layer of protection relating to 8th and 14th amendment civil action.
Site Specific Medical Policies & Procedures: ACH will assist the facility in developing site specific medical policies and procedures which, upon approval by the jail administration, will become the property of the facility. All policies are designed to meet or exceed NCCHC and ACA standards and updated annually or as changes are released.
Nursing Protocols: ACH will provide the medical unit with a complete set of protocols designed to assure all treatment and care is appropriate and consistent. The protocol format has been developed in a manner that allows correctional personnel to understand and communicate effectively with the physician. This adds a layer of protection for the facility and correctional staff when assisting with medical needs in the absence of a medical professional onsite.
In-Service Training: quarterly training for medical professionals
Inmate Health Education
HIPAA & NCCHC Compliance
Continuous Quality Improvement
ACH will implement a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program designed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the medical unit. The first step of the CQI program begins upon commencement of services with the development of a site specific Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the medical unit along with a plan of correction. The Strategic Plan action items are updated through regular CQI meetings.
The CQI process takes a multi-disciplinary approach to medical and provides a complete overview of the medical activity every 3 - 4 months.
Utilization Management
Understanding correctional medicine and the needs of the patients is critical when providing appropriate care. ACH physicians and nurses understand the environment and the specific needs of the patients. When a patient requires the services of a hospital, clinic, or local provider it is essential for the site medical team to communicate with the off-site provider to assure all treatment is appropriate, timely and the patient is returned to the facility as soon as possible. This assurance is achieved through physician-to-physician medical consultations combined with strong working relationships with community providers. Our Utilization Management program allows the Site Medical Director the ability to refer patients for hospital or specialty services, when medically indicated, without the prior approval of the corporate office. Our philosophy enables the bedside physician to make all medical decisions regarding pharmaceuticals, treatment and care.
To ensure complete client satisfaction, our program includes corporate involvement in the following manner:
SITE VISITS
