History

Advanced Correctional Healthcare (ACH) is a privately held, physician owned Illinois corporation founded in May 2002 for the purpose of providing managed inmate healthcare services.  ACH is owned and directed by Dr. Norman R. Johnson.  Dr. Johnson, a board certified Internist with a sub specialty in gerontology, is a member of the Society of Correctional Physicians as well as a Certified Addiction Specialist.

As CEO of ACH, Dr. Johnson has over 30 years experience in direct healthcare management.  As CEO he draws from his managed healthcare experience to position ACH as an industry leader that delivers a higher standard of inmate healthcare and client relations.

ACH started with 7 county jail facilities and 1 juvenile detention center in Illinois and Indiana and has since expanded into 15 states providing daily services to over 18,000 detainees.  Our growth has been planned to allow expansion into new states while assuring all clients continue to receive the highest quality of care and satisfaction. While other companies may strive to grow in state and federal facilities, ACH focuses on the county jail environment.

By specializing in county corrections we have a complete understanding of the needs of the population as well as challenges facing the administration. ACH has continued to enhance our services to meet these needs and have expanded to include psychiatric care, certified addiction specialists, network provider discounts and coordinated Risk Management and Cost Containment programs that encompass an ever growing marketplace. As a partner in the delivery of inmate healthcare services, ACH continues to research and develop programs that meet the needs of our clients in a cost-effective manner.
